This exciting 10-day adventure to Everest Base Camp (EBC) takes you to where Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay camped while preparing their ascent of Mt. Everest in 1953.
The Everest base camp trek takes you to an altitude of 5364m which is a challenge, but with time spent acclimatizing beforehand is achievable. On this trek, you should be reasonably fit as there is no rest day on the trek. We take your health and safety seriously and will gradually head higher each day, allowing you time to acclimatize. This is an experience of a lifetime and will require willpower and determination on your part. If you prefer more time to acclimatize then you may opt for the full Everest Base Camp trek that gives you an extra day or two on the trail to acclimatize. The scenery and a profusion of flora and fauna make the journey to EBC more satisfying. This shorter trek gets you to EBC in just 10 days!
Along the trail you will visit the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar in the heart of the Khumbu District of Nepal and come across Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags, Mani stones (engraved with Buddhist mantras) and other Buddhist structures along the way. You will be within the Sagamartha National Park and get see some of the local wildlife, such as Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Musk Deer and the Himalayan Monal (vividly colorful pheasant). Another feature of this trek will be a visit to the famous Tibetan Buddhist Tengboche Monastery - the largest Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region.
Your trek starts and ends at Lukla with airline tickets included in the price. The highlight of course is reaching EBC and the stunning view of Mt. Everest from Kala Patthar - famous for being a place to capture perfect images of Mt. Everest. Your camera will be working overtime to capture these snow capped mountain images.
You are in safe hands with Sherpa Expedition & Trekking who have more than 40 years in the trekking and climbing business. We will take care of all permits, meals and accommodation along the route.

Our adventure begins after our arrival at Tenzing Hillary Airport at Lukla and then trekking to Phakding. The trail takes us through Chaurikharka Village before ascending to Dudh Koshi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft), then on to Lukla and to Phakding. At Phakding we will visit Rimishung Monastery.
Today we trek along the banks of the Dudh Kosi River until we arrive at the small village of Jorsale in the Khumbu region – just south of Namche Bazaar. After a two hour trek, we reach Namche Bazaar. Along the trail, we have some great views, including Mt. Everest (Sagamartha in Nepali). We officially enter Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale where authorities will check your permit. After another 5 or 6 hours of fairly hard going, we arrive at Namche Bazaar.
The trail to Tengboche zigzags, taking us past many valleys before arriving at Kenjoma, where it joins with the path from Khumjung, passing many Mani stones (stones inscribed with sacred Buddhist prayers). The views of Everest and Mt. Ama Dablam are stunning along this section of the trail. We will pass the village of Sanasa at which point the path descends to Phunki Thanga (3250m) and then we climb up through pine forests where the trail hugs the slope before reaching Tengboche (3870m). Tengboche is famous for its magnificent views of many of the world’s tallest peaks, such as Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Amadablam, Kantega, and Thamserku.
Today we descend on a 3 to 4-hour trek passing through forests and then cross the Imja Khola (river) to the village of Pangboche, memorable for its fields surrounded by rock walls. Tonight we stay at Dingboche.
Today we pass many Chortens (Tibetan shrines & tombs) taking for about 1.5 hours until we reach the village of Thugla (4600m) where we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we head in the direction of some huge peaks, such as Mt Pumori (7161m) and Mt. Nuptse (7861m) before arriving at Lobuche Village (4940m). We then head through the valley before arriving at Thukla, after passing the Aid Post at Pheriche (4371m). The aid post is manned during the peak trekking seasons. We then head down to the yak pastures of the small settlement of Lobuche where we will stay overnight.
On arriving at Gorakshep we will have some fantastic views of the Khumbu Glacier and surrounding peaks. We will stop here briefly and rest before heading to Everest Base Camp. Along the trail we can see Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse and Lingtren mountains. We will spend time at EBC before heading back to Gorakshep for the night.
In the early morning light we will head to Kala Pathar (5550m), about a two hour trek. Once at Kala Patthar you will have uninterrupted views of Everest and other soaring snow covered peaks. The magnificent photos of Everest seen on the internet are taken from this vantage point. We then head down to Gorakshep where we stop for tea and a snack before continuing on our descent to Pheriche. The high altitude trek to EBC will leave you tired and ensure you sleep well at Pheriche.
We have a long seven hour day on the trail from Namche to Lukla, which is mostly downhill and with several sections of level ground. We leave the Sagamartha National Park and eventually reach Lukla where we stay overnight.
Our early morning flight will see us reach Kathmandu in around 30 minutes. During the flight, you will have a birds-eye view of many of the world’s towering peaks in the Himalaya Ranges. Your guide will escort you from the airport to your hotel.
