Itinerary

Day 1

Your journey begins with a full-day guided tour of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The tour combines both walking and driving, allowing you to explore the city’s historic districts and modern neighborhoods.

The sightseeing program includes visits to some of the most famous landmarks of Tbilisi. Start with the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba), one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. Continue to Metekhi Plateau and the historic Metekhi Church, overlooking the Mtkvari River.

Next, take the cable car to Narikala Fortress, a 4th-century stronghold offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Walk through the charming Old Town streets of Shardeni and King Erekle II, known for their art galleries, cafés, and traditional restaurants.

Day 2

After breakfast, depart Tbilisi and travel north along the Georgian Military Highway.
The first stop is Mtskheta, the ancient capital of the early Georgian kingdom of Iberia and one of the country’s most important spiritual centers.

Visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites:
Jvari Monastery (6th century) – offering panoramic views over the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) – one of the most sacred churches in Georgia
Continue the journey through the scenic mountain road to Zhinvali Reservoir, known for its turquoise waters surrounded by forested hills.

Next stop is Ananuri Fortress, a well-preserved medieval complex that once served as the residence of local feudal rulers. The site includes defensive towers and historic churches within fortified walls.

Drive further into the Greater Caucasus Mountains and arrive at the popular Gudauri Ski Resort, located at an altitude of 2010 meters above sea level.
Dinner and overnight in Gudauri.

Day 3

Drive through the spectacular Great Caucasus Mountains along the Georgian Military Highway. Cross Jvari Pass (2395 m) and reach the mountain town Stepantsminda (Kazbegi).
Visit the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, located at 2170 meters above sea level beneath the majestic Mount Kazbegi (5047 m).
Continue to Dariali Gorge, visit Dariali Monastery, and hike to the Gveleti Waterfall.
Return to Tbilisi for overnight.

Day 4

Travel to the Samtskhe-Javakheti region.
Stops include:
Stalin Museum in Gori
Uplistsikhe cave city
(1st millennium BC)
Borjomi National Park and famous mineral springs
Arrive in Akhaltsikhe for overnight.

Day 5

Explore the historic Rabati Castle complex in Akhaltsikhe.
Continue to:
Khertvisi Fortress
Vardzia Cave Monastery
, a spectacular medieval rock-cut city founded in the 12th century.
Overnight in Vardzia

Day 6

Cross the Georgia–Armenia border at Bavra.
Meet your Armenian guide and continue to Gyumri, Armenia’s second-largest city.
Explore the historic 19th-century Old Town. Overnight in Gyumri.

Day 7

Visit two important Armenian religious monuments:
St. Hripsime Church
Zvartnots Cathedral (UNESCO)
Continue to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
Visit the famous Matenadaran Manuscript Institute.
Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 8

Visit the Garni Pagan Temple, the only Greco-Roman colonnaded temple in the Caucasus.
Continue to the Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved into rock cliffs.
Return to Yerevan for overnight.

Day 9

Cross the Armenia–Georgia border at Sadakhlo and return to Tbilisi.
