Itinerary

Day 1

Please arrange your own transfer from Istanbul Hotel to the Airport. Cappadocia Travel Center service will start as you in Kayseri Airport and our driver will pick you up from Kayseri Airport as you arrive.

Short flight from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Cappadocia. Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport and drive to Cappadocia region (approx. 45 minutes). The tour will begin with a panoramic view point in Goreme. You will be able to see The Pigeon Valley, Rose and Red Valleys, Goreme and Uchisar Villages from this point. After driving about 30 minutes, we will visit Kaymakli Underground City which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cappadocia. The most impressive aspect of the Kaymaklı Underground City is the organized, structured and very well thought nature of the entire city. After experiencing the life underground, we will drive you to Pigeon Valley to see Uchisar Castle and the valley from a panoramic point.

We will have our lunch at a local restaurant in Avanos. We will then watch the kick-wheel pottery demonstration in Avanos which is a traditional craft in the area. Later, visit Pasabag (Monks Valley) which is also known as mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys. The fairy-chimneys in Pasabag are the best-protected ones in the area. Finally, we will visit Devrent Valley in which you will see the camel-shaped fairy chimney and much more different shapes than usual. After the tour transfer to your cave hotel. Overnight accommodation in Cappadocia.

Day 2

Optional: Hot Air Balloon flight in the early morning can be a good start the day with sunrise.

We will pick you up at 09:30am from your hotel and and start the exploring the Red Valley and Rose Valley in which you will be able to see lots of pigeon houses and beautiful rock-cut churches. Then drive to Cavusin Village which is an abandoned village with amazing views.

After lunch, we will visit Goreme Open Air Museum which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. You will see the best-preserved rock-cut churches in Cappadocia area. And then we will go to carpet cooperative and meet with local young girls who are weaving carpets for their wedding ceremonies as an investment of dowry. We get detailed information of” Cappadocia hand-made carpets” and see all of their processes which is normally unallowable. Return to our hotel and overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 3

Start the day early to head out Eastern city of Kahta. A scenic drive to Kahta in the afternoon climb up to Mt. Nemrut to see the sunset and colossal statues of Paganistic gods and goddesses from the top of the sacred mountain of Commonage Empire and enjoy the breathtaking sunset. Crowning one of the highest peaks of the Eastern Taurus Mountain range in south-east Turkey, Nemrut Dağ is the Hierotheseion (temple-tomb and house of the gods) built by the late Hellenistic King Antiochos I of Commagene (69-34 B.C.) as a monument to himself. The mausoleum of Antiochus I (69–34 B.C.), who reigned over Commagene, a kingdom founded north of Syria and the Euphrates after the breakup of Alexander's empire, is one of the most ambitious constructions of the Hellenistic period. The syncretism of its pantheon, and the lineage of its kings, which can be traced back through two sets of legends, Greek and Persian, is evidence of the dual origin of this kingdom's culture. Stone chips cover the forty-nine-meter high by funerary mound that has a one hundred- and fifty-two-meter diameter. The statues stand nearly seven meters tall and some of the blocks here are believed to weigh over nine tones. Five seated limestone statues of gods…four male and one female stand in a row with statues of a lion and an eagle at each end. Inscriptions on the statues identify them as Apollo, the goddess Tyche of Commagene, Zeus, Antiochos himself and Hercules. The statues are well preserved. The heads have fallen to a lower level and now stand upright where they fell. Next drive to our hotel in Adiyaman. Dinner and overnight in Adiyaman.
