After Breakfast, start off by visiting the ancient city of Letoon. This city was never fully occupied but all evidence that has been uncovered suggests that it was primarily a centre for religious worship. The location was a place of religion predating the Greek culture dating back to the beginning of the Lycian Empire. Continuing on to the ancient capital of the Lycian Federation, here many artefacts were excavated and dated back to the 8th century. Xanthos is an ancient Lycian city that originated during the Hittite era, later to be conquered by the Greek and Persian empires. The Lycian population created a centre for both culture and commerce here at Xanthos. Today the ruins are a popular tourist stop for both their stunning preserved ruins, fantastic view but they also hold the mystery of what happened to the city. Many theories tell of different people destroying it with some saying it was a natural disaster, however, there is no record of what happened. All we have today is the stories left behind by those who built this fantastic city. The afternoon you will head to the famous Patara Beach, here you can relax in the beautiful Turkish weather or swim on the crystal-clear water of the Aegean Sea.
