National park Durmitor is mountain area with canyons, glacial lakes and stunning villages. The trip includes 5 hiking tours where you will be able to see beauty of Durmitor in all its splendor.
You will get to see the best of Durmitor including: Jablan Lake, Crvena Greda, Ice cave, Bobotov kuk (if the weather permits), Skrcka Lake, Prutas peak, Susicko Lake & Susica Canyon.
Durmitor National Park is located at wide mountain region in the northwestern part of Montenegro, surrounded by rivers Piva and Tara. Since 1980's Durmitor National Park and canyon of Tara are under protection of UNESCO. In 1977 canyon was proclaimed world ecological reserve. Here are 23 mountain tops over 2300 meters of altitude. Park is 39000 acres large and includes 82 kilometers of canyon of the Tara with altitude of 1600 meters above river level.

Hiking duration from Zabljak about 3.5h-4h, descent to lake in about 1.5h, (going back to Zabljak to your accomodation with organized transport).
Although it does not belong to the higher peaks of Durmitor - Crvena Greda is certainly one of the most impressive.
When you enter Žabljak, it is impossible not to notice the proud cliffs, whose highest peak is at 2164 m above sea level.
Nature lovers can enjoy a multitude of wildflowers, blueberries, medicinal herbs, and some mushrooms. On this tour you will see Jablan Lake from the above, or as it is called, "Mirror of Crvena Greda".
It is located at 1791 m above sea level, the water is crystal clear and very cold. There are allegations that it was named after the type of Jablan flower that grows on its banks.
Hiking duration 4.5-5h + 2h - descending into Lokvice.
The ice cave is the natural beauty of Durmitor National Park. In this cave there are beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations made of ice. It is located on the NE side of the Obla Glava massif.

If you look from Zabljak (1456 m) town (highest town in the Balkans) you will notice easily on the right side of Durmitor massif, one peak with a very special outlook and form which makes it a very important part of Durmitor’s panorama. Because of it’s rounded peak, Durmitorians gave this peak the name “Obla Glava” (Rounded head). This peak is very famous because of Ledena Pecina (Ice Cave), which you will see on this tour. You will also pass by Black Lake on this tour.
Transport with the car to to Sedlo, hiking Bobotov kuk (4.5h) back to Sedlo, organized transport to your accomodation in Zabljak.
Durmitor National Park is simply full of great hikes, but climbing Bobotov Kuk is the ultimate one and certainly one of the best hikes in Montenegro.
Bobotov Kuk is officially the third highest peak in Montenegro coming in at 2,523 meters high or over 8,200 feet. Here you will pass by incredible scenaries, through white limestone mountains
to green fields, mountain lake and high above the clouds, so you can reach the top. Here you will experience the iconic beauty of Dinaric Alps and feel like you are standing on top of the world.
Transport to Sedlo - Prutas (4h) Prutas - Skrcka jezera (2.5h-3h)
On this tour you will go to the lakes you saw the previous day from Bobotov kuk. Big and Small Škrčko lakes are located 1700m above sea level, at the foot of Prutaš, Šareni, Bobotov Kuk and Soa mountains, in the west part of the National Park Durmitor, on the border of Žabljak and Plužine town-councils. The lakes are unique not only because of beautiful landscapes around, but also by the water level they appear. They are located so high that considered to be the most inaccessible lakes of the National park. Sometimes Big Škrčko lake is called Green lake, because of its green water color. Water in the lake flows out through rocky gutters and disappears in deep interstices. Soon water flow comes to the surface and becomes a famous Skakala waterfall and later the Sušica river.
Prutas (read Prutash) at 2303 meters occupies ‘only’ 9th spot on the list of highest peaks of Durmitor, but it is certainly one of the trademark peaks of the massif. Prutas is one of the most beautiful, most popular and certainly the largest of Durmitor peaks.
Skrcka lakes to Susicko Lake hiking (3h -3.5h) , organized transport to your accomodation in Zabljak.
On the western side of Durmitor is placed one of the most
beautiful canyon of Montenegro -Susica Canyon. Precisely, that impressive canyon with its amazing untouchable wild beauty is placed between the high cliffs of the SW part of Durmitor's massif.
On both sides, Susica Canyon is surrounded by high vasty plateaus. Susica Canyon is connected with Dolina Skrckih jezera (Skrka Lakes Valley), which you will see the previous day.
Sušičko jezero lake with its form of ellipse is placed in North-South direction. From both sides the lake is surrounded by high cliffs and old pine forest. Trekking through this amazing canyon is really unforgetable experience. At the edge of Sušica Canyon, approaching from Dolina Škrčkih jezera (Škrka Lakes Valley), you can enjoy in great scenery of Skakala waterfalls. (if the weather permits)
