Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and taken for a delightful lunch. Afterward, embark on a scenic 4-5 hour drive to Awassa, enjoying breathtaking landscapes and cultural sights along the way. A highlight of the journey includes a stop at Shashamene, a town known for its vibrant Rastafarian community. There will also be opportunities to explore other notable attractions en route. Upon arrival in Awassa, check in at Lewi Resort for a relaxing overnight stay.

 

Day 2

Start your day with a visit to the local fish market at Lake Awassa, where you can experience the lively atmosphere and observe fishermen selling their fresh catch. Afterward, embark on a scenic drive to Arba Minch, passing through stunning landscapes and cultural sites. Along the way, stop to explore the Dorze people, renowned for their unique bamboo houses, intricate weaving traditions, and cultivation of the false banana plant, used to make their staple food, Kocho. After an enriching cultural experience, continue your journey to Arba Minch and check in at Hile resort for an overnight stay.

Day 3

Embark on an exciting boat trip on Lake Chamo, located in the heart of Ethiopia's southern region, known for its rich wildlife and scenic beauty. As you glide across the serene waters of this stunning lake, you’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife, including the famous Nile crocodiles basking in the sun along the shores, and hippos quietly submerged in the waters. The lake is also home to a wide range of bird species, making it a perfect destination for birdwatching enthusiasts.

 

After your boat tour, continue your journey by driving to Turmi, a charming town that lies in the Omo Valley, famous for its vibrant people cultures. Along the way, stop to visit the Konso people, known for their remarkable terracing techniques, rich cultural heritage, and distinctive architecture. This is an opportunity to learn about their way of life, explore their ancient villages, and gain insight into their traditions overnight . Emerland lodge in Turmi.

Day 4

Today's journey takes you deep into the heart of southern Ethiopia, where you'll experience the rich traditions of its indigenous communities. Your adventure begins with a scenic boat ride across the Omo River, offering breathtaking views of the rugged landscape as the river winds through the terrain.

 

Upon reaching the opposite bank, you'll visit the Dasenach people, a fascinating indigenous group known for their distinctive body decorations, intricate jewelry, and elaborate hairstyles. This visit provides a unique opportunity to engage with the Dasenach and gain insight into their vibrant way of life.

 

After your time with the Dasenach, you'll cross the Omo River once again and return to Turmi, where you'll immerse yourself in the traditions of the Hamar people. Renowned for their elaborate ceremonies, the Hamar are particularly known for the dramatic "bull jumping" initiation rite, a significant cultural event. Overnight Emerland Lodge 

 

Day 5

A Journey into the Cultures of Southern Ethiopia

Today's adventure takes you to two of Ethiopia’s most fascinating indigenous communities, offering a deeper understanding of their unique traditions and way of life. Begin your journey with a visit to the Karo people, renowned for their striking body art and intricate face and body painting. Using natural pigments, the Karo create elaborate designs that serve as expressions of identity, social status, and beauty. As you interact with members of the people, you'll gain insight into their artistic traditions and witness these stunning creations up close.

Next, continue your journey to Jinka, a vibrant town that serves as the gateway to the diverse cultures of the southern Omo Valley. Here, you'll visit the Mursi people, one of the region’s most distinctive groups, known for their unique cultural practices and traditions. Overnight Nasa Hotel. 

 

Day 6

 

After an early breakfast, you'll head to the airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, you'll have some time to refresh and relax before embarking on a city tour in the afternoon. if you have a time you will visit Addis Ababa City tour as Optional 

 

During the tour, you'll explore the vibrant capital, discovering its rich history, cultural landmarks, and bustling markets. Visit the National Museum, where you can admire ancient artifacts, including the famous fossil of Lucy, and stroll through the lively streets of Addis Ababa to soak in the atmosphere of this dynamic city. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, a significant religious site, and enjoy panoramic views from Mount Entoto. and have a farewell dinner and ready for your departure
