The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek takes you to a region in the mountains where the air is crisp and fresh and an area that has a multitude of natural beauty. This is justifiably one of the most popular trekking destinations in Nepal.
The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) (4130m) is frequently referred to as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This trek promises awesome in-your-face views of massive mountain ranges, which include Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail) and Annapurna South peaks.
The ideal time of year to trek in this region is in springtime when Rhododendron forests are in full bloom (red, pink & white flowers) with their colourful blossoms in stark contrast with the rockier mountain landscape. However, it is possible to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek all year round.
Some of the snow-covered peaks you will see on the trail are: Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m) Mt. Manaslu (8163 m), Mt. Annapurna II (7937 m.), Mt. Annapurna III (7555m), Mt. Annapurna IV (7525m), Mt. Annapurna south (7219m), Mt. Nilgiri (7041m), Mt. Machapuchare (6998m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6986m) and Tukuche Peak (6920m).
Some of the mountains you will see from ABC are Tharpu Chuli (5663m), Singu Chuli (6501m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and South Annapurna (7219m). Along the trail you will see many chortens (Buddhist stone monuments), Tibetan prayer flags, and yaks grazing in high alpine pastures, bamboo and rhododendron forests and the distinctive Tibetan style architecture in the villages of this region.
Sherpa Expedition Temas will arrange all permits, meals and accommodation on the trek. We will ensure everything is prepared so that you have nothing to be concerned about, except for whether your camera batteries are fully charged.

On arrival at Tribhuvan International Terminal, Kathmandu you will be met by a representative of Sherpa Expedition Teams and taken to your hotel in Thamel – the vibrant and most popular tourist hub in Kathmandu. You will later be given a trekking guide and any other instructions for the trek.
At 6.30 am our driver will pick you up from your hotel and then we set off on a road trip to Pokhara passing through dense forests along a winding road through the hills and many villages before arriving at Pokhara. We will stop for lunch at one of the numerous roadside restaurants. After arriving at Pokhara and checking in to our hotel near “Lakeside” (Phew Tal) we will have time to explore the city and watch the sunset as we sit by the lake and absorb the views over the mountains.
This morning we will drive for one hour before reaching Nayapul from where our trek begins by following the Bhurungdi Khola (river). The trail passes through rice fields and orange groves along a moderately easy trail before we head uphill to Tikhedhunga where we will stay overnight.
We start the day with a steep climb up 3300 steps to Ulleri. On the trail we will pass through thick rhododendron and oak forests where you will see Langur monkeys frolicking in the tree tops and musk deer. Once at the top of the stone stairs we have some truly incredible views of Machapuchare (Fishtail), Gandhraba Chuli and Annapurna II and III.
To view the sun rising over the mountains from Poon Hill we will have to get up before dawn. Once at the top of Poon Hill you will be convinced why this is one of the best places in Nepal for mountain views. You will see the ever-changing colors as the sun rises over the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. We will then return to Ghorepani for breakfast and then trek uphill through the jungle to Deurali. We then continue on to Tadapani for the night.
This morning we have a steep descent through a dark forest until we come to the appealing village of Chomrong. Prior to reaching Chomrong we have some more great views of Annapurna South and the respected Mt. Machapuchare. We will stay at a teahouse overnight.
Today we follow an undulating trail and arrive at the Chomrong Khola River where we cross over the suspension bridge and then ascend for another two hours before coming to the village of Sinuwa. This area has a profusion of bamboo groves and stunning rhododendron and walnut trees noticeable along the trail. After a lunch break we pass Bamboo Village and then continue on to Dovan for the night.
Today we follow the trail to Machhapuchare Base Camp and onward to Annapurna Base Camp. The valley widens and there are some great mountain views along the trail. Tonight we will stay at Annapurna Base Camp.
Being up early today allows us to view the spectacular sunrise views of the Annapurna Sanctuary. We then continue on the trail and descend and to follow along the banks of the Modi Khola River to Bamboo.
Today we begin by trekking up to Sinuwa and then descend to the Chomrong Khola (river). We then ascend to Chomrong and have one more descent for the day to Jhinu Danda and its therapeutic hot springs where we can relax those tired muscles.
This is our final day on the trail as we descend down to the banks of the Modi Khola (river) and on toward Nayapul where we will travel by private car for one and a half hours back to Pokhara and check into our hotel near Phew Tal (Lakeside).
This morning we head from Pokhara to Kathmandu that will take around 7 hours. There is an option to fly that can be arranged beforehand. On arrival you will be taken back to your hotels in Thamel where you can relax or catch up on seeing some friends or last minute shopping.
