Your 5 Days Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins today. After breakfast, you will take a short drive to Matkyu Danda via jeep. Within a few hours, you will reach this newly established jeep station, Matkyu Danda. Your trek officially begins.
The trail at first is downhill until you encounter a large suspension bridge. This recently constructed bridge leads you to a series of stairs. After walking for two hours, you will reach Jhinu Danda (1750m). Jhinu Danda is also famous for its soothing and refreshing hot springs.
Now, you start ascending alongside the Modi Khola. You can expect the spectacular scenery of green hills and scare settlements. Continuing the ascent, you will reach Chhomrong. It is a beautiful Gurung village divided into Upper and Lower Chhomrong. As there are a lot of hotels here, you can stay at any lodge/teahouse for an overnight stay.
After Chhomrong, your next destination is the Hotel Himalaya. If you stay at Upper Chhomrong, you will reach Lower Chhomrong within half an hour. There are fewer teahouses there. You again pass through the suspension bridge over the Modi Khola.
After the bridge, you take the uphill trail again until you reach Lower Sinuwa. Sinuwa is the village that takes you through the deep forest of rich oak, pine, and bamboo. You also get a glooming glimpse of Mt Machhapuchhre (6993m). Then, you get downhill towards Upper Sinuwa. After walking for about one hour, you reach Bamboo (2145m).
Now the trail gets more beautiful with waterfalls and cascading springs. Again the mountain scenery surrounds you. You then reach Dovan (2505m), where there are few hotels. From Dovan, the Himalayas is about two hours. This day, you cross 3000 meters on the way. Thus, you need to be careful and walk in at a normal pace. Remember to follow the ways of avoiding Altitude Sickness.
Leaving Himalaya, your ascent will take you to the ultimate point of the trek, Annapurna Base Camp. The trek ascends through picturesque spots like Deurali (3200m), Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m). MBC is a perfect spot for the majestic view of Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
The trail up-to MBC is uphill ascent but afterward lies plain lands within deep forest and waterfalls. The waterfall en route appears beautiful from different angles. You also pass through several Avalanche Risk Area. The trails keep on getting refreshing and elegant with colorful flowers like orchids, rhododendrons, etc. The atmosphere becomes chilly and mountains begin to appear clear and closer.
After walking one and a half hours from MBC, you will reach Annapurna Base Camp. This is the vantage point that offers dramatic mountain scenery of the Annapurna range. This spot is the opportunity to witness the diverse landscape and typical traditional life in Himalaya.
Today, you will wake up early in the morning. After all, you can’t miss the golden sunrise from the vantage point. The sunshine from the high peaks is pretty pleasing and enticing. All the surrounding vegetation glow with glistening snow and mist. You also get views of various Annapurna glaciers.
5 days ABC Trek gives the closest 360 panoramas of Fishtail, Annapurna I & III, Singu Chuli (6501m), Tharpu Chuli (5662m), Gangapurna Himal (7455m), Hiuchuli (6441m), Annapurna South (7219m) Tent Peak (5663m), etc. This is an amazing experience to be surrounded by mountains. You will just forget everything and just enjoy the wonderful nature. You will walk around the base camp and have breathtaking scenery around huge snow towers.
After those wonderful moments at the base camp, you will start walking down. Following the pleasing architecture, you will retrace your steps back to Deurali. Once again, you encounter nice waterfalls, and flowing rivulets with amazing landscapes. You will reach Dovan and finally reach Bamboo for the overnight stay. The trail is full of downhill today. Keep an eye out for black-faced “langur” monkeys too!
Retracing your steps, you will descend to Matkyu Danda. The uphill trek starts again with the stairs. After an hour of an uphill climb, you will reach Sinuwa. Walking forward and crossing the large suspension bridge, you will reach Chhomrong. Then comes Jhinu Danda. You can’t miss the refreshing hot spring bath. This will give you a relaxing experience.
Afterward, you will take an uphill trail from there until Matkyu. Your short and amazing trek comes to an end. From there, you will drive to Pokhara(City of Lakes). Since you are at a famous tourist hub, you can’t miss the amazing spots like Peace Pagoda. Mahendra Cave, Davis Falls, and Lakeside. You can also go to a good pub or restaurant. There is no better than Pokhara to celebrate the accomplishment of your journey.
