This full-day excursion to the High Atlas Mountains is a fantastic opportunity to explore both natural beauty and local culture. Starting with a morning departure from Marrakech, you'll head toward the Moulay Brahim Gorges, where the rugged terrain and dramatic landscapes will set the stage for your adventure.
Your first activity is a 20 to 30-minute camel ride along scenic trails, providing a leisurely way to experience the surrounding beauty. Afterward, you'll re-board your vehicle and continue through the Imlil Valley, passing Berber villages nestled against the mountain backdrop.
Once you reach Imlil, you'll be greeted by a local with a glass of refreshing mint tea, a customary gesture of hospitality. The hiking part of the day follows as you trek for several hours toward Armed, the highest and largest village in the valley. Along the way, you'll pass through the charming hamlets of Ait Mizan, Targa, and Imoula, each offering glimpses into traditional Berber life.
Your hike will take you through lush landscapes with sweeping views of terraced fields used for growing barley, corn, and vegetables. You'll also pass cherry orchards and walnut trees, making the journey even more picturesque.
Upon reaching the Berber village of Ait Imlil, you'll be welcomed into a local home for a traditional lunch. As you sip on more mint tea, you'll enjoy an authentic meal made with local ingredients, giving you a true taste of Berber hospitality.
After your meal, the journey continues as you descend the valley through Taourirt, taking in more stunning views on your way back to Marrakech. This immersive experience offers a perfect balance of nature, culture, and adventure.
