Itinerary

Day 1

Airport – Wilpattu – 4 hours Drive – Thibiri Wewa Resort Wilpattu – 3 Star 

  • On Arrival, you will meet with our representative at the Airport & proceed to Wilpattu.
  • You will proceed to Wilpattu National Park and birding.
  • You will check-into the Hotel in Wilpattu & relax. Dinner & Overnight stay.

Wilpattu is largest and one of the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka. It is a haven for elusive Leopards, Sloth Bears, Elephants, nearly 150 varieties of Birds and numerous other Animals.

Sri Lanka Junglefowl : The Sri Lanka Junglefowl, the island’s most common endemic bird and national bird, is strongly sexually dimorphic. Males are larger with vivid plumage, a prominent comb, and a yellow patch, while females have cryptic brown feathers with white markings, ideal for ground nesting camouflage. 

Other Birds : Baya Weaver, Greater Coucal, Rosy Starling, Lesser Whistling Duck, Yellow-billed Babbler, Common Myna, Indian Peafowl, Asian Palm Swift, Sri Lanka Green-Pigeon, Yellow-eyed Babbler

Day 2

Wilpattu – Mannar – 3 hours drive – Hotel Agape Mannar – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Mannar.
  • Check in to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Mannar. 
Day 3

Mannar – Hotel Agape Mannar - 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to do full day birding.
  • You will check in to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Mannar.

Mannar is a key stopover for many migratory birds, including the large flocks of flamingos that arrive from December onwards. You can also see various species of ducks, waders, and shorebirds. 

Flemingoes Birds : Flamingos are wading birds in the Phoenicopteridae family, with four species in the Americas and two in Afro-Eurasia. A group is called a "flamboyance" or "stand."

Other Birds : Gulls, Black Tail Godwits, Gargneys, Pintail Ducks, Plovers, White Bellied Sea Eagles, Brahamin Kites, Black Kites, Common Kestrels 

Day 4

Mannar – Kithulgala – 7 hours Drive – Rest House Kithulgala – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Kithulgala.
  • In the evening birding at Kithulgala Rain Forest.
  • You will check in to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Kithulgala.

Kitulgala rainforest is a haven for diverse birdlife, boasting numerous endemic species.

Owls : The Serendib scops owl (Otus thilohoffmanni) and the chestnut-backed owlet (Glaucidium castanotum) are both owls that can be found in the Kitulgala rainforest in Sri Lanka.

Endemic Species : Sri Lanka Spurfowl, Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Green-billed Coucal, and Chestnut-backed Owlet

Other Birds : Yellow-fronted Barbet, Red-faced Malkoha, Brown-capped Babbler

Day 5

Kithulgala – Rest House Kithulgala – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will visit to Kithulgala Village.
  • In the Afternoon birding at Makandawa Rain Forset.
  • Then you will return to Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Kithulgala.

Makandawa Forest Reserve is located in Kitulgala, which is in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It’s a great location for birdwatching, boasting a variety of endemic and common bird species.  

Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill : The Sri Lanka grey hornbill is a 45 cm bird with grey wings, brown crown, white underparts, and a long blackish tail with white sides. Males have a cream bill, females a black one with a cream stripe, and its flight is slow and strong.

Endemic Species : Grey Hornbill, Green-billed Coucal, Yellow-fronted barbet, Sri Lanka Spurfowl, Layard's Parakeet, Ceylon Rufous Babbler, Sri Lanka Spot winged Thrush, Chestnut-backed Owlet, Red-faced Malkoha

Other Birds : Serendip Scops Owl, Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Common Hill Myna, Migrant waders


Day 6

Kithulgala – Nuwara Eliya – 2 hours 30 min Drive - Single Tree Mount Hotel – 4 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Nuwara Eliya.
  • In the Afternoon birding at Victoria Park.
  • You will return to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya is a popular spot for birdwatching, hosting a variety of both native and migratory birds. Endemic species like the Sri Lanka White eye, Yellow-eared Bulbul, and Sri Lanka Scimitar Babbler can be found. 

Sri Lanka White-Eye : The Sri Lanka White-eye (Zosterops ceylonensis) is a small, endemic bird of Horton Plains, with a white eye-ring and slender beak. It feeds on insects, nectar, and fruits in flocks.

Other Birds : Common Myna, House Sparrow, Sri Lanka Whistling Trush, Indian Pitta, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Kashmir Flycatcher, Pied Thrush, Red vented Bulbul, Eastern Cattle-Egret, Rock Pigeon 

Day 7

Nuwara Eliya – Single Tree Mount Hotel – 4 Star

  • After Breakfast you will visit to Horton Plains for the birding.
  • Then you will return to Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Horton Plains National Park in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, is a renowned birdwatching destination, particularly for its endemic species. Key bird species found there include the Sri Lanka White-Eye, Sri Lanka Wood Pigeon, and Dull-Blue Flycatcher.

Dull-Blue Flycatcher : This 15 cm (5.9 in) bird resembles the spotted flycatcher and has a loud melodic song. Adults are ashy blue with a whitish belly and a black patch near the eye, bordered by bright blue; females are slightly duller.

Day 8

Nuwara Eliya – Yala – 3 Hrs 30 Min Drive - Hibiscus Garden Hotel – Tissamaharama – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Yaala.
  • En-route visit : Welimada Surrey Bird Sanctuary for birding.
  • In the Evening birding at Tissa wetland area.
  • You will check in to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Yala.

The welimada surrey bird sanctuary is also known for its resident Brown Wood Owl, who are Endemic species.

Brown Wood Owl : The brown wood owl (Strix leptogrammica) is a resident breeder in South Asia, found in countries like India, Sri Lanka, and China. It belongs to the earless owl genus Strix and the typical owl family Strigidae.

Other Birds : Asian Koel, White-throated Kingfisher, Brown-headed Barbet, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Asian Tit. 

At the wetland area you can find Jungle Owl & White Nepp Woodpecker. 

Day 9

Yala – Hibiscus Garden Hotel – Tissamaharama – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to National Parks. ➢ Yala/ Lunugamwehera National Park – Full day safari
  • You will return to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Yala.

Sri Lanka Woodshrike : The Sri Lanka Wood Shrike (Tephrodornis affinis) is a small gray songbird with a dark mask and white eyebrow, found in Sri Lanka’s dry zone. It lives in wooded areas and is often seen in pairs or small groups.

Endemic Species : Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Sri Lanka Wood Pigeon, Crimson-Fronted Barbet, Black-Capped Bulbul, and Blue-Tailed Bee-Eater  

  • Yala National Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, particularly its high density of Leopards.
Day 10

Yala – Hibiscus Garden Hotel – Tissamaharama – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Bundala National Park.
  • In Evening birding at wetland area.
  • You will return to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Yala.

Bundala National Park is an internationally important wintering ground for migratory water birds in Sri Lanka. 

Grey Headed Fish Eagle : The grey-headed fish eagle is a large, fish-eating raptor from Southeast Asia, with dark brown upperparts, a grey head, pale underbelly, and white legs.

Other Birds : Water Cock, Greater Flamingo, White breasted Waterhen, White-throated Kingfisher, Whiskered Tern, Caspian Tern

Day 11

Yala – Sinharaja – 3 hours 30 min Drive – Blue Magpie Lodge Sinharaja – 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Sinharaja.
  • Check in to Hotel and Relax. Dinner and Overnight stay in Sinharaja.
Day 12

Sinharaja – Blue Magpie Lodge Sinharaja - 3 Star

  • After Breakfast you will visit to the Sinharaja Rain Forest.
  • Return to the Hotel and Dinner & Overnight stay in Sinharaja.

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a forest reserve and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Sinharaja Rainforest is a haven for birdlife, boasting a wide array of Endemic species, including the Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, and Sri Lanka Junglefowl (The National Bird).

Sri Lanka Blue Magpie : The Sri Lanka Blue Magpie is a colorful, endemic corvid with blue plumage, a chestnut head, and a long tail. It feeds on insects, small animals, and fruits in small groups.

Key Bird Species : Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Red-faced Malkoha, Sri Lanka Drongo, Sri Lanka Spurfowl, Serendib Scops Owl, Spot-Winged Thrush, Sri Lanka hanging parrot

Sinharaja – Airport – 3 hours drive

  • After Breakfast you will proceed to Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport with Happy Momories.
