Our tour begins early in the morning, departing from your hotel. The first stop is Uc Serefeli Mosque, constructed in the 15th century using cut stone and brick. The interior walls and pillars are adorned with fine white marble and decorative calligraphy. The mosque's name is derived from the three balconies on the southeast minaret and is also known as Eski Mosque. The minarets feature distinctive decorative tile patterns, and each balcony is reached by a separate set of stairs. The minarets were a significant development in the mosque's structure during the 15th century.
Selimiye Mosque, considered the masterpiece of Ottoman architecture, is the second destination. It was built for Selim II in 16th century by Sinan. Its symmetrical design is emphasized by the four minarets and the soaring rise of the central dome. It is known for its interior decoration, the tulip figures, and also for its well-designed acoustics.
Sinan's Semiz Ali Pasa Bazaar, which was built in 1589, is also on the itinerary. It is a long, tunnel-like building with shops on either side. Here, you can purchase one of Edirne's specialties: soap shaped like fruit or vegetables.
Next, we will visit the Meric Bridge, constructed in the 19th century at the junction of the Maritsa (Meric) and Arda rivers. Following a visit to the Edirne Ethnographic and Archaeological Museum, we will conclude our tour by transferring you back to your hotel.
