During our visit to the ancient city of Iasos, founded by Argos, we'll observe and learn about the remains of the Agora, Temple of Artemis, Temple of Zeus, Megistos, and Theater. The purple-veined marble found in Iasos catches our attention, and we'll note its frequent use in urban architecture. One of the most fascinating sites on this excursion is the former Fish Market, which was later converted into a bathhouse during the Menteshe Period, the first of the Anatolian beyliks. Overall, Iasos stands out as one of the most significant fish markets of antiquity, and today it is an open air museum.
Following our visit to Iasos, we make our way to the lesser-known Euromos ancient city near Ayakli Village. Here, we'll see the well-preserved Zeus Lepsynos Temple, regarded as one of Anatolia's finest temples. Although the original temple built in antiquity was destroyed, it was rebuilt during the Roman period in the 2nd century BC. As we explore Euromos, we'll walk among columns, votive inscriptions, and even learn about the physicist Menekrates and his daughter Tryphania.
