Kizilcukur Valley, also known as Red Valley, is a stunning natural wonder with its unique rock formations and fairy chimneys. The valley is particularly breathtaking during sunsets, showcasing a stunning range of colors. The valley's rocks are noticeably shorter and resemble various animals, creating an enchanting experience.
Gulludere Valley, (Rose Valley), located in Goreme, is one of the most extraordinary places to visit. It gets its name from the reddish hue of the rocks that make up the valley. In ancient times, people lived in carved rocks in this region. Gulludere Valley has a walking trail of about 4 km, making it an ideal place for trekking. In the valley, the cave churches Yovakim-Anna Church, Direkli, Ayvali, St. Agathangelus, and Three Crossed can be visited.
Cavusin is famous for its abundance of cave dwellings, which were once inhabited by ancient people. The rock-carved churches, including those named after St. John the Baptist, are among its fascinating attractions. The frescoes depict the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste, the Byzantine Emperor Nicephorus Phocas, and his wife Theophano.
Ozkonak Underground City was carved into the north slopes of Idis Mount and is made up of hundreds of rooms connected by corridors. It was built around 400 BC and housed tens of thousands of civils.
Ortahisar is a charming town with narrow streets, lovely churches, and picturesque stone houses, both old and new. The most striking feature of the region is Ortahisar Castle, an 86-meter high natural rock formation that was used as a strategic castle during Roman times and later as accommodation. From the top of the castle, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Hallac Dere valley's fairy chimneys and Mount Erciyes.
