Start departure at 8.30am from Tirana and 09.20am in Durres , to make the most of the day.

Apollonia, founded in 588 BC and taken by Aristotle as a model in his analysis of oligarchy, because of its distinct and separate Greek and Illyrian communities. It was a vital stronghold in Caesar’s civil war with Pompey and also important in early Christian history with its bishop attending the councils of Ephesus and Chlalkis in 431 and 451 AD. 

 Start with a visit  through the Odeon (small theater) and the Temple of Apollo, marveling at the grandeur of this once-thriving Greek city,  Theater of Apollonia, which could seat over 3,000 people. Head to the Apollonia Archaeological Museum to see fascinating artifacts.

End the day with a stroll through nearby olive groves before departing, taking in the serene beauty of the area. A perfect blend of history, culture, and nature.
Ardenica Monastery, was founded in 1282, built over a former temple of Artemis. Visit the Church of St. Mary, home to vivid 18th-century frescoes and a beautifully carved wooden iconostasis. See the room where Skanderbeg’s wedding was blessed.
