Your day begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel in Kathmandu. You will then drive approximately one hour towards Sundarijal, enjoying views of the valley outskirts and local settlements along the way.
Upon arrival at Sundarijal Bus Park, you will have some time to purchase snacks, drinking water, and any last-minute essentials before starting the hike.
After obtaining your entry permit for Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, the hike officially begins. The trail initially follows stone steps alongside a small stream and gradually ascends into dense forest.
You will cross Sundarijal and continue hiking towards Dhap Dam via the Chisapani route. The trail passes through Okhrani village, where you can observe traditional lifestyles, terraced farms, and local culture. The route consists of stone staircases, forest paths, and occasional open viewpoints.
After approximately 3–4 hours of hiking, you will reach Dhap Dam. This peaceful reservoir is surrounded by hills and forest, offering a calm atmosphere perfect for relaxation, photography, and enjoying packed snacks or lunch. On clear days, distant Himalayan views add to the charm.
After resting for about an hour, begin your descent along the same trail. The downhill walk is easier and allows more time to appreciate the surrounding nature.
Reach Sundarijal Bus Stop and prepare for your return journey.
Drive back to Kathmandu and drop off at your hotel, concluding your day hike.
