Tips
Lalibela:
Famous for its 12th-century rock-hewn churches, Lalibela is
a sacred pilgrimage site. Modest dress is required when visiting churches
(covered shoulders and legs). Footwear must be removed before entering holy
sites. The area is at high altitude, so travelers should pace themselves and
stay hydrated.
Danakil Depression:
One of the hottest and most extreme places on Earth, the
Danakil is known for its colorful sulfur springs, salt flats, and active
volcanoes.. Visitors should be prepared for intense heat, basic accommodations,
and early morning hikes.
Tigray Churches:
These ancient cliff-side churches are carved into mountains
and offer breathtaking views. Reaching some of them requires steep climbs, so a
good fitness level is recommended. Modest clothing is essential, and local
guides are advised to navigate the terrain and share historical insights.
