Itinerary

Day 1

  • A representative of Machu Picchu Journey will be waiting for you upon arrival in the city of Puerto Maldonado.
  • Then we will go to the port to board a boat that will take us to the entrance of the Tambopata reserve. Throughout this trip we will make a stop at the monkey island, to appreciate two groups of families, the friars and brown capuchins.
  • We will continue our trip until we reach the entrance of Lake Sandoval, to start a 3km walk, making different stops and being able to observe trees of impressive size that are from 300 to 450 years old, exotic plants, colorful birds, insects, butterflies, some curious monkeys that they will appear on our way if we are lucky we will be able to appreciate small mammals such as añujes, deer, squirrels, pictures among others, we will have to remain silent and be very attentive to observe them.
  • We will arrive at a canal where we will navigate in a rowing boat, our team will row through the forest flooded with palm trees that leads to the open waters of this Sandoval lake, below the surface of the lake we can see the enormous Paiche, an Amazonian fish that can weigh up to 100Kg/220lb we can also hopefully appreciate the otter, giant birds, among others.
  • After finishing our activity we go to our hostel to have a delicious lunch in the area.
  • In the afternoon we will start a walk through the trails where insects, ants, amphibians, etc. can be observed.
  • After that we will return to Puerto Maldonado, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m.
