Itinerary

Day 1

·      Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by the Explore Vacations representative who will page you by your name. You will then be assisted to the coach park to begin your journey as per the itinerary.

·       Proceed to Negombo and check into your hotel.

·    In the evening, visit the scenic Negombo Lagoon, known for its calm waters and traditional fishing activities. If time permits, explore the lively fishing village and local fish market, where you can observe the daily life of fishermen. You may also visit the historic Dutch Canal, a reminder of Sri Lanka’s colonial past.

·       Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2

·       After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed towards Galle.

·      En route, visit the Sea Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda, a conservation center dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles. Learn about their life cycle and the efforts taken to safeguard these gentle marine creatures.

·      Continue to the Kottawa Rainforest, a beautiful lowland forest reserve rich in biodiversity. Enjoy a peaceful walk along the forest trail, where you can spot a variety of birds, butterflies, reptiles, and native plant species.

·      Thereafter, transfer to Galle and visit the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch. Walk along the ancient ramparts and visit the iconic Galle Lighthouse, overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

·      After breakfast, check out and proceed to the Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most important biodiversity hotspots. With over 95% of the country’s endemic birds recorded here, Sinharaja offers an exceptional birdwatching experience. Common sightings include the Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Red-faced Malkoha, Grey Hornbill, and White-headed Starling, along with many other endemic and migratory species.

·       After your rainforest exploration, continue to Udawalawa and check into your hotel.

·       In the evening, visit the Elephant Transit Home, a rehabilitation center for orphaned elephant calves, where you can observe these gentle giants during their feeding time.

·       Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

·   Begin the day with an exciting wildlife safari at Udawalawa National Park or Bundala National Park renowned for its large elephant population and impressive variety of raptors. Bird species commonly seen include Spot-billed Pelican, Little Cormorant, Grey Heron, Painted Stork, Woolly-necked Stork, Yellow-wattled Lapwing, Green Bee-eater, and Crested Tree-swift, among many others.

·    Enjoy your Breakfast.

·      Later, continue to Tissamaharama and check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5

·       Enjoy an early morning safari at Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife reserves, known for its leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and diverse birdlife.

·       After breakfast, proceed towards Nuwara Eliya.

En route, witness the stunning Ravana Waterfall and visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge in Ella, a remarkable colonial-era railway bridge surrounded by lush greenery.

·       Continue to Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as “Little England” for its cool climate and colonial charm.

Day 6

·       Breakfast at the hotel

Proceed to Horton Plains National Park, a unique highland plateau known for its montane grasslands and cloud forests. Enjoy a nature walk through this scenic landscape, home to endemic bird species and wildlife.

·       Visit the famous World’s End, a dramatic cliff with breathtaking views, and Baker’s Falls.

·       After your visit, continue to Kandy.

Day 7

·       After breakfast, proceed to Kitulgala Forest Reserve, a renowned birdwatching destination.

This forest is ideal for spotting endemic species such as the Sri Lankan Orange-billed Babbler and Chestnut-backed Owlet. The reserve is also home to reptiles like the Green Pit Viper and various butterfly species, making it a paradise for nature lovers.

·       Thereafter, continue to Colombo.

Upon arrival, check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8

·       After breakfast, if time permits, enjoy a brief shopping tour in Colombo.

Later, check out of the hotel and proceed to the airport for your departure.
