The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of Nepal’s most accessible and picturesque short treks, perfect for beginners and those seeking a breathtaking Himalayan experience without extreme altitude or long durations. Famous for its panoramic sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, this trek takes you through lush rhododendron forests, traditional Magar and Gurung villages, and terraced farmlands.
The trek typically takes 7 to 9 days, starting from Nayapul and ascending to Ghorepani (2,874m), followed by an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m). From this vantage point, trekkers witness an unforgettable sunrise illuminating snow-capped peaks, including Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Nilgiri.
The trail passes through Ulleri (known for its steep stone steps) and Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung village with rich cultural heritage. With comfortable teahouse lodges along the way, moderate difficulty, and relatively low altitude, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is ideal for families, solo travelers, and photography enthusiasts.
The best seasons for this trek are spring (March-May), when rhododendrons bloom in vibrant colors, and autumn (September-November), offering clear skies and stable weather. Whether you're short on time or new to trekking, this journey promises stunning landscapes and a glimpse into Nepal’s Himalayan charm.
