Itinerary

Day 1

Driving from Tirana to Saranda

After leaving Tirana at 07:00 we will head toward the South of Albania when we will be introduced to 2 UNESCO Heritage Monuments.

Passing through Vlora we will have the chance to get introduced to the City of Independence. After passing Llogara Pass we will have the chance to enjoy the astonishing view of the Albanian Riviera. In addition driving along the Albanian Riviera, we will reach Saranda. Short visit in Saranda.

Tour of Saranda, Ksamil Beach and Butrint

You will have a short stop in Saranda and continue further toward the south. Driving through Ksamil, we will shortly reach Butrint. This remarkable Archeologic park is the pride of Albanian Archeology. With the visit to Butrint, we will be able to understand how life was organized more than 2 millennia ago. We will experience a very interesting evolution from the ethnic Albanian tribes to the greek, roman society to an episcopal community with an early Christian Basilica and fantastic baptistery.

The importance of the city is often described in the Roman philosopher Cicero books. He was also a resident of the city and his villa was not far from the city.

Furthermore, Butrint is not only an exceptional testimonial of History. The surrounding area has not changed much. Minor changes have been made and this adds value to the overall experience during the visit.

Tour in Gjirokaster

Tour in Gjirokaster starts in the city center in one of the most important city squares. Wondering through the antiques and handmade products in the Bazaar we will make our you toward the Castle of Gjirokaster. Build centuries ago, and later restored at the beginning of the 19th century, this Castle held remarkable values. It has been the earliest foundation of life in the city. Decorated nicely also with an epic legend behind it is decently a Must Visit attraction while in Gjirokaster.

After the castle exploration, we will head down to the city. In addition, we will pass through the “Palorto Neighborhood”. It is probably the most well-known part of the city because of the 2 notable persons. Not far from each other are situated in the house of Enver Hoxha and Ismail Kadare. The first is known as the post-WWII, communist dictator and the second as the most translated Albanian Writer, candidate for Nobel.
