Early morning, we drive (approx. 4–5 hours) to Ramechhap airport, then take a scenic mountain flight to Lukla (2,840m) — the gateway to the Everest region. After meeting our porter team, we begin a gentle 3–4 hour trek through picturesque villages and along the Dudh Koshi River to reach Phakding (2,610m). Overnight stay in a teahouse by the riverside.
After breakfast, we continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges and passing through beautiful pine forests. Entering Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, we begin a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the main trading hub of the Khumbu region. The 6–7 hour trek rewards us with our first views of Mt. Everest (weather permitting). Overnight at a cozy teahouse in Namche.
Today is a rest and acclimatization day to help your body adjust to the altitude. We take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) for stunning panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. On the way back, we visit the Sherpa Museum and local market. The afternoon is free to relax or explore Namche’s shops and cafés. Overnight stay in Namche.
We leave Namche and follow a scenic trail with views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. After descending to the Dudh Koshi River at Phunki Tenga, we climb through rhododendron forests to reach Tengboche (3,867m), home to the region’s largest Buddhist monastery. In the evening, we can attend a prayer ceremony with monks. Overnight at a teahouse in Tengboche.
Today’s trek offers spectacular mountain views as we descend through forests and cross the Imja Khola. We pass the charming village of Pangboche and continue with a gradual ascent toward the wide, open valley of Dingboche (4,410m). The landscape becomes more alpine and less forested. Total walking time is about 5–6 hours. Overnight stay in Dingboche.
After a restful night in Dingboche, we take a short but scenic 3–4 hour trek to Chhukung (4,730m), a small village nestled beneath towering peaks like Lhotse and Ama Dablam. The trail gradually ascends through alpine terrain with stunning views of glaciers and surrounding mountains. This day also helps with acclimatization before the Island Peak climb. Overnight in Chhukung.
Today is a rest and acclimatization day in Chhukung to prepare for the upcoming Island Peak climb. You can explore the village, hike to nearby viewpoints like Chhukung Ri for panoramic mountain views, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful alpine surroundings. Overnight stay in Chhukung.
From Chhukung, we trek about 3–4 hours, ascending gradually through rocky terrain and moraine trails to reach Island Peak Base Camp (5,080m). This camp is our gateway for the final climb and offers stunning views of surrounding peaks. Overnight stay in tents at base camp, preparing for the summit push
Starting early before dawn, we climb steep snow and ice slopes using crampons and ropes, navigating the glacier and fixed lines to reach the Island Peak summit (6,189m). After soaking in breathtaking 360° Himalayan views, we carefully descend the same route back to Base Camp for a well-deserved rest and celebration. Total climb time: 8–10 hours.

Island Peak (6,189m) is one of Nepal’s most popular trekking peaks, offering a fantastic introduction to high-altitude mountaineering. While technically moderate, the climb requires basic skills in using crampons, ice axes, and fixed ropes, so some prior training or a guided expedition is recommended.
Acclimatization is crucial—spending time in villages like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche helps your body adjust to the altitude and reduces the risk of altitude sickness. The route features glacier travel, steep snow slopes, and a final rocky ridge to the summit.
The climb rewards you with stunning panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and the surrounding Himalayas. Besides the physical challenge, you’ll also experience Sherpa culture, beautiful mountain villages, and breathtaking landscapes.
Best seasons to climb are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is most stable. Make sure to book through a reputable trekking agency to handle permits, equipment, and logistics smoothly.
