Itinerary

Day 1

Drive from Kathmandu to Nagarkot (1.5 hours | 27 km)

Your adventure begins early in the morning, with a pickup around 4:30 AM, depending on the season. The goal is to reach Nagarkot in time for sunrise—a magical experience you won’t want to miss.

As you leave behind the city’s bustle, the drive takes you through quiet roads lined with villages, terraced fields, and lush vegetation. After about an hour and a half, you’ll arrive at Nagarkot (2,175 meters), a hill station famed for its fresh mountain air and panoramic Himalayan views.

At the Nagarkot View Tower, you’ll witness the sun rising over a magnificent chain of snowcapped peaks—Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Rolwaling, Jugal, Manaslu, Numbur, Annapurna, and on clear days, even Mount Everest. After sunrise, enjoy a hearty breakfast at a local guesthouse or café to fuel up for the day’s hike.

Hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel (5–6 hours | 16 km)

The hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel is a relaxing and scenic journey through the heart of rural Nepal. With rolling hills, dense pine forests, and colorful rhododendron trees along the way, the trail offers both peace and natural beauty. This is a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and take in the views of the Himalayas stretching across the northern horizon.

Along the route, you’ll pass through Nala Village, a culturally rich Newari settlement. If you're lucky, you might be able to sample Khuwa, a sweet local delicacy made from thickened milk. Nala is also home to the Nala Karunamaya Temple, a sacred site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, said to be dedicated to the creator of the world.

As you continue, you may pass Banepa, a historic town known for its vibrant local culture and heritage temples. If time allows, explore ancient sites like the Chandeshwari Temple and several shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesh, offering a glimpse into Nepal’s deep spiritual traditions.

Arrival at Dhulikhel

After about 5–6 hours of gentle hiking, you’ll arrive in Dhulikhel, a charming town rich in Newari architecture, culture, and stunning mountain views. Here, you can visit the Kali Temple, stroll through the old town, or take a photo at the famous “Selfie Stone” overlooking a 180-degree panorama of the Himalayas—including Mount Everest, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal.

Drive Back to Kathmandu (1 hour)

After a well-earned lunch and some time to explore Dhulikhel, it’s time to return to Kathmandu. The drive takes about an hour, winding through scenic roads back to the city. Before heading to your hotel, you might stop for last-minute shopping, souvenirs, or just a final few photos of your incredible day.

Your day ends with a comfortable drop-off at your hotel—tired, happy, and full of unforgettable memories from the hills of Nepal.
