The Khopra Danda Trek, also known as the Khopra Ridge Trek, is one of the best off-the-beaten-path adventures in Nepal’s Annapurna region.
This Trek starts from the scenic city of Pokhara. This trek offers incredible mountain views, peaceful trails, and a more authentic experience compared to the busier routes like Poon Hill or Annapurna Base Camp.
Whether you’re looking for panoramic Himalayan landscapes, traditional village life, or blooming rhododendron forests, the Khopra Danda Trek delivers all of it in a relatively short yet rewarding itinerary.

Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. From there, start trekking through terraced farmland and small villages to reach Ghandruk, a picturesque Gurung village offering fantastic views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
Trek through dense rhododendron and oak forests while enjoying occasional glimpses of the Himalayas. The trail ascends gradually, with chances to spot birds and forest wildlife.
Today’s trail leads deeper into the forested hills with fewer trekkers on the path. The trek offers a serene experience as you ascend to Dobato. In the evening, enjoy beautiful sunset views over Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna range.
Start the morning early with a short hike to Muldai Viewpoint for one of the best panoramic views in the region—featuring over 25 snow-capped peaks. After sunrise, descend and continue trekking through alpine pastures and forests to reach Chistibung.
Ascend steadily through high alpine terrain to reach the stunning Khopra Ridge. The ridge offers incredible, close-up views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, and the Kali Gandaki Gorge far below.
Take an optional but rewarding full-day hike to Khayer Lake, a sacred glacial lake nestled high in the mountains. This challenging hike offers solitude, alpine landscapes, and spiritual significance. Return to Khopra Danda for the night.
Descend along a peaceful trail through forests and local villages to reach Swanta. Along the way, enjoy the view of Dhaulagiri and experience rural Nepali culture up close.
Continue trekking through forests and cross small streams as you gradually ascend to Ghorepani, a charming village known for its access to the famous Poon Hill viewpoint.
Begin early with a hike to Poon Hill for a breathtaking sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Afterward, trek down to Birethanti through Ulleri and Hille. From Birethanti, drive back to Pokhara to conclude your trek.
