Kigali
Kigali
Welcome to Rwanda! The country of 1000 hills.
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will receive assistance from airport personnel who will guide you towards the Covid-19 testing center located inside the airport. Following the test, you will be escorted out of the airport where your driver guide will be waiting to transfer you to Onomo Hotel for check-in and an overnight stay, which includes breakfast.
Indulge in a leisurely breakfast, and if your Covid-19 test results are negative, you can resume your tour. Your driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel reception to take you to the Kigali Genocide Memorial museum.
The Kigali Genocide Memorial is an emotionally moving, challenging, educational, and ultimately inspiring memorial. It's an excellent place to understand the cause, tragedy, and successful rebuilding post-genocide. The reconciliation and rebuilding have been miraculous, and the memorials are built to inform, educate and prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again.
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park. (2.5 hours)
Rwanda's nickname, "The Land of a Thousand Hills," is not solely due to Kigali's 7 hills. During the 2.5-hour transfer to Volcanoes National Park, you'll experience the breathtaking landscape of endless mountains and hills, providing perfect opportunities for scenic photographs as you pass through local villages and farms.
Upon arrival, the team will welcome you with a refreshing glass of juice before enjoying a hot lunch and checking in to your accommodation. Take advantage of the activities offered at your accommodation before settling in for the night.
Enjoy an overnight stay at your chosen accommodation.
Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trek to encounter the rare mountain gorillas. With only around 1063 of these magnificent creatures left in the world and 1/3 in the Volcanoes National Park, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss.
After an early breakfast, you'll be met and transferred to the park headquarters for check-in and education on the trek and gorilla behavior. Suitable fitness groups will be divided before embarking on a 2-6 hour trek, depending on the animals' movements. This is considered one of the greatest natural animal encounters on the planet.
The rangers/trackers will lead you deep into the forest, traversing rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and freshen up before embarking on a 2.5-hour scenic transfer back to Kigali.
Upon arrival in Kigali, visit the bustling Kimironko Market for souvenirs, including hand-crafted items, African fabrics, fruit, vegetables, and household necessities.
Later, enjoy a fun farewell dinner at Khana Khazana Restaurant, one of Kigali's best.
After dinner, you'll be transferred to the International Airport for your outbound flight home.
We hope you have a safe and memorable onward journey that will stay with you long after you return home.
