At the end of the 19th century, in 1883, when wine exploitation was just taking off in Chile, the renowned Chilean politician and entrepreneur Don Melchor Concha y Toro ordered noble French varietals from the Bordeaux region and planted them in Pirque, Maipo Valley. Hiring French enologist Monsieur Labouchère to oversee his wine production, this visionary founded the Concha y Toro vineyard, more than 130 years ago.
