Itinerary

Day 1

Karibu Nairobi, the ‘City Under the Sun!’

Upon touchdown at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and after clearance with customs & immigration, our representative will meet you and assist you to the vehicle parking for your transfer to your city Hotel for your overnight stay on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

Time permitting, we can arrange a Nairobi city tour (at an additional cost).

Spend the day visiting the famous David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you can see baby elephants at play, feeding and having a mud bath and the Giraffe Centre, where you can come in close contact, feeding and interacting with the endangered Rothschild Giraffes. A walk down memory lane at the Karen Blixen Museum/ National Museum with a visit to the Museum of Illusions (a playful, mind-bending museum that blends art, science and psychology to trick the senses and challenge how you see the world). A City tour through Nairobi’s bustling streets and iconic buildings, topped off with a shopping extravaganza at the Maasai market are also on the menu. Game drives at the ‘World’s Only Wildlife Capital’ (Nairobi National Park) and a culinary extravaganza at the iconic Carnivore Restaurant for an all-you-can-eat ‘carnivorous buffet’ featuring exotic barbecued meats can also be arranged for.

Day 2

Following an early breakfast, enjoy the breathtaking scenery dotted with rushing mountain streams and fields of tea and coffee en-route to the rugged Samburu National Reserve. Boasting magnificent, untouched landscapes this less-visited destination is home to the renowned, indigenous 'butterfly people' aka Samburu people, and the unique ‘Samburu 5’- mammals found north of the equator only (Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, Reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa oryx).

You are expected to arrive at lodge in time for check-in, lunch and an afternoon siesta thereafter.

Later in the afternoon, you will head out for your first ‘real’ game drive before returning to camp/ lodge as the sunsets.

Overnight stay and meals at the lodge on Full Board basis.

Day 3

Spend the entire day exploring the vast Samburu landscapes, getting up-close to the large herds of elephants and the not-so-elusive leopards crowned with an authentic cultural immersion experience at a local Samburu village that make up for an awe-inspiring, wholesome Samburu experience.

Optional visits to the heart-warming Reteti Elephant Sanctuary for an up-close encounter with the rescued baby elephants, with visits to the elephant rock art, and the singing wells (a fascinating cultural tradition where the Samburu warriors (morans) dig deep wells into the sand riverbeds forming human chains, passing water containers from one person to another to water their precious livestock at the surface), can also be arranged for (at an additional cost).

Overnight stay and meals at the lodge on Full Board basis

Day 4

Leaving the rugged Samburu wilderness behind, it’s time to head out to the popular Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Sandwiched between the foothills of the Aberdares and the snowcapped Mt Kenya, it is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and a safe haven for the last 2 Northern White rhinos in the world. Enjoy a short game drive en route to the camp where you are expected to arrive in time for check-in and a delicious lunch. Later in the afternoon, you can visit our distant cousins, aka the endangered, cheeky chimpanzees of the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, learning of their rescue and rehabilitation stories whilst contributing to their vital conservation. Offering a range of unique conservation activities, you can also indulge in an exciting night game drive for a front row seat to the nocturnal wildlife that thrive here, lion tracking, guided bush walks, cycling in the wild, dog tracking, and feeding Baraka (the blind black rhino).

Day 5

Following a delicious breakfast, take on an optional adventure, interacting with Fatu and Najin (the last 2 northern white rhinos in the world). Thereafter, you will head out to the dazzling waters of the Lake Nakuru National Park. Surrounded by the Great Rift Valley escarpment and picturesque ridges, the park hosts a wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that play host to abundant wildlife. Indulge in exciting game drives spotting the numerous flamingos and other birdlife that flock here to feed. Host to the country’s first rhino sanctuary, take on the surrounding wooded and bushy grassland, looking out for the thriving white and black rhinos grazing among the Rothschild giraffes, leopards, lions, and cheetahs among others that call this place home.

Later in the afternoon, you will proceed to Lake Naivasha (a fresh water lake) for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6

Rise to an early morning breakfast, before heading out to the calm lake water for a relaxing boat ride cruise crowned with up-close encounters with the resident birdlife and hippos. Enjoy a stroll through Crescent Island (an ornithological paradise), for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk among giraffe, waterbuck, gazelle, zebra among others.

Thereafter, you will head south, through Kenya’s "breadbasket" (acres of wheat and barley), making your way the world renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy your first game drive in this untouched gem whilst en-route to the camp/ lodge. Enjoy a delicious lunch which will be followed by an afternoon siesta. Catch the magical sunset dipping over the horizon from the comfort of the camp before indulging in a mouth-watering dinner.

Overnight stay and meals at the lodge/camp on Full Board basis.

Day 7

Awake at dawn to the soothing sounds of nature that fill the cool morning breeze presenting a hopeful day of thrilling, wildlife encounters. Indulge in a hearty breakfast, before venturing out into the rugged wilderness for a full-day of exploration, soaking in all its preserved beauties.

Grab a front-row seats to one of the world’s most exhilarating shows, watching as the millions of wildebeests, zebras and antelopes embark on a journey of survival (during the months of July-Sept). Migrating the perched plains of Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, witness how these brave species take a big leap of bravery, diving into the crocodile-infested Mara River at the river crossing points, only to dodge the ever-stocking predators of lions, hyenas and cheetahs who prey on the weak and vulnerable who survive the river.

An unforgettable, hot air balloon ride at sunrise, gliding across the magnificent savannah grasslands and meandering along the mighty Mara River for those jaw-dropping, bird’s-eye-views of the thriving wildlife whilst on their usual morning routines can also be arranged for (at an additional cost). A once-in-a-lifetime safari experience that culminates with a celebratory champagne toss upon touchdown.
