A representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel. After arriving at your hotel we will have a short briefing where you will have an opportunity to ask questions about the trek and also receive a trek itinerary. You will also get to meet your guide and fellow trekkers.
The bus trip should take around six to seven hours before arriving at Pokhara – a well-known starting point for trekkers and famous for its Phewa Tal (lake). You will also have some fantastic views of Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fishtail) to the north, Dhaulagiri in the west and Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. There are many great cafes and bars to sit at while you watch the sunset over the lake.
Today we go by private vehicle to Nayapul and then we are on the trail and follow the banks of the Modi Khola (river) until we arrive at Birethanti Village (1,015m). We follow the north bank of the Burundi Khola before ascending up through the valley to Hille (1,495m). Next, we come to Tikhedhunga (1,570m). Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse.
This morning we have a steep climb to the Magar village of Ulleri (2,070m). We then climb higher through rhododendron and oak forests until reaching Banthanti (2,250m) and then on to Nangethanti (2,460m). After one more hour on the trail we come to Ghorepani (2,840m) where we will stay overnight at a guest house.
This morning we are up before daylight in order to reach Poon Hill (3,210m) before sunrise. The views are absolutely inconceivable. The mountains are glistening in the pristine light of the morning, reflecting a mixture of colors of the snow-white peaks. After madly snapping photos we will head back to Ghorepani (2960m) for breakfast. From Ghorepani, we ascend along mountain ridges, through rhododendron and pine forests before coming to Deurali (2,960m). We will stay the night here at a guest house.
Today we initially head down a steep hill passing through rhododendron forests before reaching a primarily Gurung village not far from Chomrong Village (2,140m) where we will stay overnight at a guest house.
First thing today we head down to Chomrong Khola (river) and then ascend to Khuldighar (2,380m) that used to be an Annapurna Conservation Area checkpoint. A little further on we descend a steep rocky trail heading through bamboo near the bottom of the gorge while continuing along the west side of the river. Once more we head through bamboo and rhododendron forests until we arrive at Himalayan Hotel. We will stay here overnight at a guest house.
Today we head up to ABC and on the way, we pass Hinko Cave, Deurali, and Machapuchare Base Camp before coming to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) (4,130m). At this higher altitude, you will have stunning clear and unobstructed views over the surrounding snow-clad peaks. This is with doubt another opportunity to get your camera out!
We will stay here at a guesthouse overnight.
This morning we follow the same route we took getting to ABC, descending an amazing 1,700m down to the banks of the Modi Khola and then continue on to Bamboo (2,345m) where we will stay at a guest house for overnight.
Once again we take the same route back to Chomrong, first passing Khuldighar and then head through rhododendron and bamboo forests. There is a very steep descent to Chomrong and to Jhinu Danda, a place where we can relax in the hot therapeutic springs. We will stay here overnight at a guest house.
Leaving Jhinu Danda we follow along the banks of the Modi Khola for around 4.5 hours until we come to Birethanti. The trek today is said to be the most enjoyable leg of the entire trek. It is more like a gentle walk than what we have formerly encountered. After reaching Nayapul we will drive back to Pokhara. After checking in at your hotel we will to take a boat trip to Barahi Temple that is located on a small island in the middle of Phewa Tal (lake).
This morning we head back by road to Kathmandu. On the way you will have time to look back on your trek to Annapurna Base Camp, while considering a wish list of places to visit next time in Nepal. There is of course, a Chitwan jungle safari tour, plunging down the rapids on a rafting adventure, canoeing, mountain biking, or a guided shopping tour of Kathmandu.
Today is your final day with us in Nepal. Our representative will drop you to the airport at least three hours prior to your departure and bid you farewell and a safe journey home. If you wish to drop us a line we would love to hear from you.
