Embark on an unforgettable adventure across Jordan with the “Bedouin Trail” tour offered by Hajjat Tours & Travel — a journey that brings together ancient cities, dramatic desert landscapes and rich Bedouin hospitality. Beginning in Amman, you’ll explore the mosaic-studded town of Madaba, step into the legendary rose-red city of Petra via the back-door route, and then venture deep into the heart of the desert at Wadi Rum for multi-day treks along the stoic sandstone ridges, star-lit camps and classic Bedouin culture.
From walking through narrow canyons and tracing ancient inscriptions, to summiting Jordan’s highest peaks and camping in traditional goat-hair tents, the itinerary combines physical challenge, natural wonder and cultural immersion. Whether you’re scaling the heights of Jebel Umm ad‑Dami, scrambling toward the iconic rock arch of Burdah Rock Bridge or winding through canyon corridors in silence, each day unfolds new perspectives and deeper connection with the landscape.
As you traverse from Madaba to Petra to Wadi Rum and finally back to Amman, you’ll travel not just in space but through layers of history, desert solitude and living tradition. The Bedouin guides, remote camps, rugged terrain and sweeping desert vistas all work together to craft a journey that’s more than sightseeing—it’s an experience of Jordan’s soul.

Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to the nearby town of Madaba, known for its stunning Byzantine-era mosaics, including the famous Madaba Map of the Holy Land. Check-in at your hotel in Madaba and enjoy a relaxing evening as you prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Begin your journey in Madaba, the “City of Mosaics,” renowned for its Byzantine and Umayyad-era mosaic art. Visit St. George’s Church, home to the famous 6th-century Mosaic Map of the Holy Land, depicting Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and biblical landmarks in stunning detail. From Madaba, travel to Petra via the Back Door Route, a less-travelled yet breath-taking path leading into the ancient Nabatean city. This scenic hike offers a unique approach, bypassing the main entrance and providing exclusive access to the Monastery (Ad Deir)—one of Petra’s most impressive monuments. Descend into the heart of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Explore the Royal Tombs, the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), the Siq, and more, as you uncover the fascinating history of this lost civilization. After an unforgettable day in Petra, check in at your hotel and relax for the night.
Your Bedouin Trail hike begins with a thrilling trek through Wadi Rum, starting at the Visitor Centre. The first day’s route takes you through the Um Ishrin Siq, a stunning canyon framed by towering sandstone cliffs. As you hike, you’ll be captivated by the vast desert’s ever- changing palette, with red, gold, and ochre shades dominating the landscape. The path is relatively moderate, allowing you to soak in the serenity of the desert. You’ll pass ancient inscriptions and landmarks, including the famed Anfashieh inscriptions. Tonight, you'll camp near Um Ishrin, where the evening sky lights up with countless stars. Distance: 10-12 km |Duration: 5-6 hours Accommodation: Bedouin tent
Today's journey takes you deeper into Wadi Rum, with your first stop being Lawrence’s House, an ancient Nabatean building once used as a resting place by Lawrence of Arabia. You’ll have time to explore the area and take in the fascinating desert history. From here, the hike continues toward Um Fruth Rock Bridge, one of the most photographed natural formations in Wadi Rum. This stunning sandstone arch offers the opportunity for some light scrambling, rewarding you with panoramic views from its top. Tonight’s camp will be set up nearby, where you’ll relax and share stories around the campfire. Distance: 8-10 km |Duration: 5-6 hours Accommodation: Bedouin tent
Today marks one of the most challenging and rewarding days of the trek. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll make your way to Um Muqur, a peaceful desert site at the foot of Jordan’s tallest mountain, Jebel Umm ad-Dami. The trek up Jebel Umm ad-Dami involves a moderate climb, requiring some scrambling as you approach the summit. At 1,854 meters above sea level, the peak offers spectacular views across the Wadi Rum desert and into Saudi Arabia on a clear day. After descending, you’ll set up camp at the base of the mountain, with the evening dedicated to rest and reflection on the day’s achievement. Distance: 16-18 km |Duration: 7-8 hours Accommodation: Bedouin tent
Today, the pace slows slightly as you make your way from Jebel Umm ad-Dami to the area surrounding Jebel Burdah, where you’ll find the famous Burdah Rock Bridge. The hike offers stunning views of Wadi Rum’s iconic desert terrain, with its reddishorange sands and dramatic cliffs. The Burdah Rock Bridge itself is a natural marvel, requiring some scrambling to reach the top. Once at the summit, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views across the desert plains. Tonight, camp will be set up nearby, and the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy the peace of the desert. Distance: 8-10 km |Duration: 4-5 hours Accommodation: Bedouin tent
After breakfast, continue your journey through Wadi Rum by heading toward the stunning Burrah Canyon, a narrow and picturesque desert gorge surrounded by towering rock formations. This section of the hike is relatively easy, allowing you to take in the serenity and grandeur of the canyon. Burrah Canyon offers a beautiful contrast of sunlit rock walls and deep shadows, making for a peaceful and atmospheric trek. Your campsite tonight will be set up near the canyon, providing another night to enjoy the unique beauty of Wadi Rum under the stars. Distance: 8-10 km |Duration: 4-5 hours Accommodation: Bedouin tent
Your final day in Wadi Rum begins with a short trek through Siq Um Tawaqi, another spectacular canyon that leads back toward the village of Wadi Rum. As you walk, you’ll pass the Siq Lawrence, another notable site tied to Lawrence of Arabia’s time in the region. The trail gradually brings you back to the Wadi Rum Visitor Centre, marking the end of your desert adventure. After a celebratory farewell with your Bedouin guides, you’ll be transferred to Amman.
