Day 2: Kandy – Gardens, Heritage & Culture

Start your day with a traditional breakfast before leaving Kandy at around 8:00 AM for a scenic journey to Nuwara Eliya, famously known as the “City with Mist” or “Little England.” As you ascend into the Central Highlands, the air turns crisp and the landscape unfolds into rolling tea plantations, mist-covered mountains, and sparkling waterfalls, offering picture-perfect views at every turn.

Along the way, stop at Ramboda water falls, So many water fall in  Sri Lanka’s most enchanting waterfalls, framed by lush greenery and cascading streams. DAY 4: Nuwara Eliya & Horton Plains

Highlights include the dramatic World’s End escarpment, a 900-meter cliff offering panoramic views, and the cascading Baker’s Fall. Horton Plains is the source of Sri Lanka’s major rivers, including Mahaweli, Walave, and Kelani, and is surrounded by the majestic peaks of Mount Kirigalpotta Kanda and Mount Thotupola Kanda. Arriving in Bentota, discover a coastal town rich in history and culture. Bentota is mentioned in ancient Sri Lankan poems (sandeśa kāvya) and is home to the Galapatha Viharaya, one of a cluster of five ancient temples in the region. Explore the historical Portuguese Fort (Parangi Kotuwa), built in the 17th century at the mouth of the Bentota River, marking the southern boundary of Portuguese-held territory. The fort later became a Dutch colonial rest house and a British coastal sanatorium, celebrated by Sir James Emerson Tennent for its cool, shaded park by the beach.

Bentota’ s Bentota Palama (Bridge), constructed during the British colonial era, remains a significant landmark connecting the town across the river.
