Anawilundawa is a paradise for birdwatchers, home to over 150 species including both resident and migratory birds. From October to April, rare migratory species visit this sanctuary, while exotic nesting birds such as cormorants, egrets, storks, ibis, pheasant-tailed jacana, and purple swamp hens can be seen year-round. Day 05 – Wilpattu National Park Safari | Kalpitiya to Anuradhapura

Wilpattu, located in the Northwest lowland dry zone, is famous for its “Villus”—natural, rain-filled water basins scattered across the park that attract a remarkable diversity of wildlife. This ancient forest is a haven for mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds, making it a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike. During your safari, look out for iconic mammals including: Sri Lankan Elephants, Sri Lankan Leopards, Sloth Bears, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Buffalo, and Mongoose
The park also hosts a variety of reptiles and amphibians, such as Monitor Lizards, Mugger Crocodiles, Indian Pythons, Common Cobras, and soft-shelled turtles. Day 06 – Anuradhapura: Ancient Heritage & Sacred Sites
After breakfast, transfer to Anuradhapura, the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka and one of the island’s most significant cultural and religious centers. Located in the North Central Province, Anuradhapura served as the royal seat of the kingdom for over 1,400 years, from 377 BC to 1017 AD, under the rule of more than 130 kings. In 1982, UNESCO recognized it as a World Heritage Site under the name Sacred City of Anuradhapura, highlighting its remarkable historical and spiritual significance.
Begin your exploration with the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, a sacred fig tree planted in 288 BC, making it the oldest historically authenticated human-planted tree in the world. This sapling originates from the Bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya, India, under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment, brought to Sri Lanka by Ven. Sanghamitta Theri. Surrounded by the Mahamewna Gardens, the sacred tree continues to be tended by successive guardians, preserving its spiritual and historical legacy for over 2,000 years.

Day 07 – Habarana & Minneriya National Park Safari
After an early breakfast, journey to Habarana, a scenic village surrounded by lush forests and lakes, known as a gateway to Sri Lanka’s most iconic national parks.
